July 2025 Committee Updates
Date postedJuly 31, 2025
Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee held a joint meeting with the Roofing, Paving, and Agency subcommittees in May. The combined group had an active discussion--a common theme between all three is balancing sustainability, performance, and economics.
The committee also released Issue 2 of its Quarterly Tech Brief! In this issue, they begin the journey of describing each of the Phases in the Pavement Life Cycle, and start to tie the important balance of Sustainability, Performance, and Economics.
Communications Committee
The AMAP Communications Committee has been meeting and promoting AMAP regularly. Committee and AMAP members recently exhibited and promoted AMAP at the WRI Peterson Asphalt Research Conference in Laramie, Wyoming earlier in July. They will also have a presence at other asphalt industry events to be announced soon. If you would like to see us at a specific asphalt industry event, please reach out!
The committee has also been streamlining AMAP branding tools, such as templates for AMAP white papers and social media. Many updates have also been made to the AMAP website, including enhanced committee that list committee leadership, members, and respective committee charters and guidelines. The committee is also busy promoting the upcoming annual meeting, the release of new white papers, a new committee summary page, the second AMAP Advisory Tech Brief, and other AMAP news.
Education Committee
The Education Committee put together a successful March Workshop in Dallas that hosted over 80 attendees from industry, agency, and academic organizations. The committee received a lot of positive feedback and noted items and topics that attendees would like to see for the 2026 spring workshop. Since then, the committee has worked to finalize the agenda and speakers for the Workshop at the annual meeting in Lexington in October. The committee is also in the process of revising and finalizing its committee charter.
Events Committee
The Events Committee was busy this spring and summer with the planning and kickoff of the 2025 AMAP Annual Conference & Workshop. A total of 20 abstracts were submitted for the annual conference, and 17 were accepted. The final Conference program has been posted to the event's website, including a special tour of the lab at the Asphalt Institute on Tuesday following the Workshop. All attendees are welcome to attend, but must register in advance.
Membership Committee
Jason Cox and the Membership Committee will be addressing membership reclassifications during 2025. There are also opportunities available to serve on this committee for those who are interested.
Technical Committee
The Technical Committee has been very busy with a number of projects. Two White Papers have recently been completed, including the recent launch of the Roofing Subcommittee White Paper: "Recycling Mod-Bit Roofing or Polymer Modified Asphalt Roofing Products". White papers are available to AMAP members only.
Subcommittees have also been very active. Spencer Segula is heading up the Literature Links and Categorization initiative and is looking for member SMEs to assist with this project. Anna Thibert recently completed a review of the AMAP Glossary, which will be available on the AMAP website for members. The EPD Task Force is also meeting regularly, with a final draft to be distributed to the committee for review in July. The hope is to finalize this in August and submit for public comment by September. Finally, the Technical Committee is exploring future projects and priorities for 2026.
Many AMAP Committees will be meeting onsite at the 2025 AMAP Annual Conference in Lexington from October 14-16. Check the event website for the latest updates. All are welcome to attend any committee meeting--we look forward to seeing you there!
