Technical Applications Support, Pavement Preservation

North Charleston, South Carolina

You will serve as an integral part of the Pavement Technologies business by providing technical expertise to our customers. Primary responsibilities will include formulating and designing with customer materials, optimization of asphalt mixtures, and development of asphalt emulsion technologies. We are looking for a high-energy individual with the qualifications listed below.

How you will impact Ingevity:

• Collaborate with a dynamic team to conduct evaluations, maximize results, and develop innovative solutions to meet our customers’ needs.
• Ensure that testing is completed according to industry and internal standards.
• Provide technical expertise from concept to customer acceptance. 
• Optimize emulsion and mixture formulations.
• Utilize technical knowledge to assist with the development of new products.
• Serve as a solutions provider to our customers during the production and application of asphalt emulsions and mixtures.
• Lead industry initiatives.

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other science related discipline is required.
• At least 5 years of laboratory experience required; industry experience is preferred.
• Customer service skills or experience interfacing with customers is required.
• Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time to industry events and customer job sites.

Asphalt Binder Research Specialist

North Charleston, South Carolina

The Asphalt Binder Research Specialist is a key member of Ingevity’s Pavement Technologies team, supporting both research and development and technical services. This role is responsible for testing and characterizing asphalt binders and additives to support innovation, commercialization, customer applications, and quality control. The researcher will conduct physical and chemical testing using industry standards (AASHTO, ASTM), advanced instrumentation, and manual methods to generate meaningful data and ensure product performance.

Additionally, the individual will play a critical role in the chemical characterization of new materials for the generation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), contribute to field trial support, and help develop technical solutions for customers. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, precision, adaptability, and a strong sense of ownership to their work in a dynamic lab setting.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering technology, or a related discipline is required. 
• Experience in asphalt labs is preferred but not a prerequisite.
