Dave Jones Scholarship 2020

I am a graduate student doing my masters degree in civil and environmental engineering majoring in transportation / pavements infrastrucuture. I am currently working on a thesis about de-icing pavements . I am also interested in sustainability issues and how to make the pavements more sustainable. For that I am attending the TRB Conference this year in January ( Washington DC) to keep up with the latest innovative technologies to make the pavements more sustainable. Also I recently became a member of the WTS (an organization that aims for advancing women in the field of transportation).

I am a graduate research fellow at CREATEs ( Center for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems), I am currently working on a project sponsored by the Department of Defense which is a Full-Scale Evaluation of Pavement Deicing Systems and Development of Conductive Asphalt Mixtures. The primary objective of this project is to design an electrically conductive asphalt mixture that allows the passage of current through it in order to generate heat that prevents the accumulation of snow on the pavement surface. This is done bu incorporating conductive material ( graphite and carbon fibers) into the asphalt mixture. The future plan is to use this mixture in a full- scale asphalt pavement to evaluate the efficiency of this system, how practical is the construction of this system and how much this system costs when first placed and its operational costs as well.

3.81 GPA ( Top 5% rank ) - Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering - the University of Jordan
( recieved the fuculty scholarship for maintaining a a GPA above 3.65)
current GPA : 4 for my first semester at Rowan University.
achieved a first class distinction grade (99/100) for my graduation project for designing anf management of a LEED based building - Bachelor Degree.

I was enrolled in the Music Program of the Ministry of Culture for Youth In Jordan and there I was learning to play the Oud ( an oriental string instrument), also my twin sister and I used play as the double tennis team in high school and won some awards.

I've joined the Arabic culture club and attended the swimming club last exercise in order to join next semester.
